What's The Difference Between Inno1 and Inno2?
The short answer is almost none. Both versions have exactly the same size, shape, features, accessories, storage size, software, and functions. The only difference between the Inno1 and Inno2 is the way that the built in FM transmitter sends the audio to your vehicle's FM radio. Both versions include an FM transmitter that is turned on only when you insert the unit into an Inno Car Cradle. The Inno1 has a much more powerful FM transmitter and works well in most situations without any additional cables or connections to your vehicle's FM radio. Last year, the FCC ordered XM and Pioneer to reduce the output power of the built in FM transmitters. In order to comply with this request, yet still maintain the audio quality customers have come to expect from such devices, Pioneer added an accessory called SureConnect to the new Inno2 with the throttled-down FM transmitters. This is in essence a cable that connects from your Inno2 to an area as close as possible to your vehicle's external FM antenna minimizing the distance that the weaker FM signal has to travel from the Inno to your FM radio. You do NOT need to open the dashboard to install the Sureconnect cable accessory.
Which one is better?
If you are in an area with relatively few FM Stations, the Inno1 a better option as it has the more POWERFUL FM transmitter and will do a great job without having to run any additional cables to your vehicle's FM antenna. If you are in a large urban market with many local FM stations, or constantly drive throughout the country, the Inno2 may work better as the SureConnect accessory should overpower most local FM stations if connected to your vehicle's external FM antenna.
What if I am only using the Inno at home or portably and do not need the FM transmitter in my vehicle?
There is no difference when using the Inno1 or Inno2 outside of the car. In your car, you can always use an audio cable, cassette adapter, FM Direct connection, or an auxiliary input adapter for much improved sound quality over an wireless FM transmitter with SureConnect or without.
